Uber Engineers Create an AI Version of Their CEO to Prepare for Executive Reviews

Published: 25 Feb 2026

Uber’s engineering teams have built an internal AI chatbot modeled on CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, using it to rehearse presentations and refine ideas before meeting senior leadership, highlighting how deeply AI is reshaping decision-making and productivity inside the company.

At Uber, artificial intelligence is no longer just a development aid but a stand-in for leadership itself. Engineers at the company have created an internal chatbot modeled after CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, allowing teams to simulate executive-level scrutiny before high-stakes meetings. The revelation underscores how central AI has become to Uber’s culture and operations.

An AI Stand In for the Corner Office

Speaking on The Diary of a CEO, Khosrowshahi revealed that some teams now present their ideas to a “Dara AI” before presenting them to him directly. The goal is not novelty, but preparation. By stress testing slide decks and proposals against an AI trained to reflect leadership style and priorities, teams aim to deliver more polished and focused presentations.

The approach reflects how much internal review already happens before ideas reach the CEO. The AI tool simply compresses and enhances that process.

Engineers at the Center of Uber’s Identity

Khosrowshahi emphasized that Uber should be seen less as a transportation company and more as a massive software system shaped by its engineers. He described engineers as both builders and architects, responsible not only for writing code but for shaping how the entire organization functions.

That mindset helps explain why the company has embraced AI so aggressively across technical teams.

AI Usage Is Already Widespread

According to Khosrowshahi, roughly 90 percent of Uber’s software engineers now use AI tools in their daily work. About 30 percent qualify as heavy users who are fundamentally rethinking systems, workflows, and architecture through AI first approaches.

Rather than incremental efficiency gains, he said the productivity shift is unlike anything he has seen before in his career.

A Glimpse of Corporate AI’s Next Phase

Uber’s internal CEO chatbot offers a glimpse into how large companies may soon operate. AI is not only assisting with coding and analysis but also serving as a proxy for leadership feedback, compressing decision cycles, and reshaping how employees prepare for critical conversations.

As AI becomes more embedded in corporate culture, Uber’s experiment suggests the technology’s influence may extend all the way to the executive suite, even if only virtually.
