Spotify Expands Audiobook Push With New Discovery Charts
Published: 27 Feb 2026
Spotify has introduced dedicated audiobook charts aimed at making it easier for listeners to discover trending titles while giving authors and publishers greater visibility on the platform. The move signals a deeper commitment to audiobooks as Spotify continues to broaden its role beyond music and podcasts.
New Charts Designed for Audiobook Discovery
The charts are located within a dedicated section of the app and highlight the most popular audiobooks based on listener engagement. By surfacing trending titles in one place, Spotify hopes to reduce friction for users who want to explore audiobooks without relying on external recommendations.
Spotify says the charts are built to mirror the success of its music and podcast rankings, which have historically driven higher consumption by making popular content easier to find.
Building on Earlier Audiobook Features
Since officially backing audiobooks in 2022, Spotify has steadily added tools designed to blend reading and listening. Recent launches include Page Match, which allows users to scan a physical book page and jump directly to the same point in the audiobook, and Audiobook Recaps, short audio summaries that help listeners resume stories without losing context.
According to Spotify, these features are designed to make audiobooks feel more connected to everyday listening habits rather than a separate experience.
Benefits for Authors and Publishers
Spotify believes the new charts will not only help listeners but also create stronger distribution opportunities for authors and publishers. By highlighting what is resonating with audiences in real time, the charts could influence marketing strategies and improve discoverability in a crowded digital publishing market.
Duncan Bruce, Spotify’s director of audiobook partnerships and licensing, said the company has seen how easier access to charts fuels demand across other audio formats and expects audiobooks to follow a similar path.
Beyond Audio With Physical Book Sales
Spotify’s ambitions extend beyond audio formats. The company recently announced plans to let users in the United States and the United Kingdom buy physical books directly through the app via a partnership with Bookshop.org. The initiative points to a broader strategy to position Spotify as a multi-format destination for readers and listeners alike.
With charts, new tools, and physical book sales on the horizon, Spotify is increasingly blending audio and publishing into a single discovery driven ecosyste.
