Shenzhen has released a framework plan proposing the construction of China’s first robot-friendly demonstration zone, according to Shenzhen Fabu, the city’s official government WeChat account.
The announcement was made during the 2025 Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area artificial intelligence and Robotics Industry Conference held in Guangzhou.
What Is a Robot-Friendly Demonstration Zone?
Local authorities define the proposed zone as an urban area designed to support the real-world testing and deployment of embodied intelligent robots.
- Focus: Integration of robots into public urban environments
- Scope: From closed testing environments to open street-level scenarios
- Location: Shenzhen Embodied Intelligence Demonstration Area
Guangdong Embodied Intelligence Training Ground Framework
At the conference, officials introduced the Guangdong Embodied Intelligence Training Ground “1+1+N” framework.
- One main training ground in Shenzhen
- One core support platform
- Multiple specialized training facilities across cities and sectors
Authorities stated that the training ground will enable robots to operate in real-life settings after completing closed-environment tests.
Role in Humanoid Robot Industry Development
Industry experts cited in the report described the training ground as infrastructure supporting humanoid robot commercialization.
- Application sectors:
- Intelligent manufacturing
- Public services
- Function:
- Enterprise collaboration
- Scenario-based robot training
Market Data and Industry Scale
Public data referenced in the report show:
- 5,700 humanoid robots were involved in transactions in the first 10 months of 2025
- Installations projected to approach 10,000 units by year-end
According to Shenzhen Special Zone Daily:
- Guangdong produced over 40% of China’s industrial robots
- Service robot output accounted for about 80% of the national total
Policy and Capital Support
In March, Guangdong released a policy package supporting AI and robotics development.
- Up to 50 million yuan in funding for national-level innovation centers
- Measures targeting core technologies and application scenarios
Securities Times reported that UBTECH Robotics secured contracts worth 90.51 million yuan and 250 million yuan in 2025.
Expert View
