Samsung Electronics has officially introduced the Galaxy Z TriFold, the company’s first triple-folding smartphone. The device folds twice, allowing users to switch between a standard phone size and a large tablet-style display. Samsung aims to combine portability, productivity, and creative flexibility in one all-in-one device.

Design and Display

Galaxy Z TriFold features a unique inward folding design supported by two advanced hinges. When fully opened, it presents a 10 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2160 by 1584 and an adaptive 120 hertz refresh rate. This expanded screen is intended for multitasking, watching movies, reading, gaming and professional work.

When closed, the device offers a 6 point 5 inch cover display with FHD plus resolution and the same high refresh rate, making it useful for quick tasks and daily use without needing to unfold the device. It is built using a titanium hinge housing and an armor aluminum frame to increase structural durability while keeping the overall profile slim.

Performance and Hardware

Inside, the Galaxy Z TriFold uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor paired with 16 gigabytes of RAM. Storage options include 512 gigabytes and 1 terabyte. The phone is powered by a 5600 milliamp hour battery divided across three cells, the largest battery Samsung has placed in a foldable device so far. It supports 45 watt wired charging and 15 watt wireless charging.

The rear camera setup includes a 200 megapixel main sensor supported by ultra wide and telephoto lenses. It also includes two front facing cameras, one on the cover screen and one beneath the main display.

The device runs Android 16 with Samsung’s latest interface and supports advanced multitasking features. Users can run several applications at once, resize windows and use a desktop style mode for enhanced productivity.

Availability and Price

The Galaxy Z TriFold will first go on sale in South Korea on December 12, 2025. The global rollout will follow, though release timing may differ across regions. The starting price for the 16 gigabyte RAM and 512 gigabyte storage variant is approximately 3 million 594 thousand Korean won, which is roughly equal to 2440 to 2500 US dollars.

Who Should Consider Galaxy Z TriFold

The Galaxy Z TriFold is aimed at professionals, content creators, students and technology enthusiasts who require a large display for work or entertainment but still want a device that fits in a pocket. It offers advantages for editing videos and photos, reviewing documents, drawing, streaming and multitasking.

Tradeoffs and Considerations

The price places it within the ultra premium category, making it less accessible to average consumers. Its folded thickness may feel bulky to some users and long term durability of triple fold mechanisms is still largely untested in the real world. Availability may also be limited during the initial release phase and international prices could be higher in several regions.

What This Means for the Smartphone Market

Samsung’s introduction of a triple-folding smartphone marks a major step in the evolution of mobile devices. By merging the capabilities of a phone, a tablet and a portable workstation, the Galaxy Z TriFold could begin a new category of multifunctional mobile computing. It demonstrates how far foldable technology has progressed and signals potential industry shifts in device design and user expectations.
